I was inspired to start my own "Had Enough?" campaign. Beginning quite modestly, I took all of the bills I had, 15 of them in varying denominations, and wrote, "Had Enough? - Vote Democratic" in indelible pen.
Eager to begin, and with great anticipation, I began my campaign at lunchtime at Taco Bell. I used two "campaign bills' to pay.

That was Thursday. See below the fold for today
Saturday...big shopping day. Quite an adventure in guerrilla activisim.
This time I decided to use ones and fives thanks to the good advice of Friend of the Court. First stop...grocery shopping. Not a good idea today, unfortunately, I thought at first. The lines were too long at the cashiers and she didn't even gice the bills a second glance. But, I decided to hang around just a minute or two. I waited by the Customer Service counter, watched my checkout line
and I was wonderously rewarded!
The person behind me in line got a few of my ones as change. He looked at one of them, looked back at the clerk and laughed, turned around and showed it to his wife. I couldn't resist. As they walked near me I asked if they like the message on their change. He smiled and said, "You bet! Don't worry, I'll pass it on."
Next stop hair salon for a haircut. Gave them as a tip. My hairdresser just laughed. Then she began to tell me about how she works two jobs as does her husband. They are Hispanic, have 4 kids, two boys and a pair of 8 year old twins. She also cares for her mother at home and pays over $1,000 a month for her mother's medications. "We do what we have to." My mom has no place to go but with us."
I asked her if she knew what the repugs did with the new prescription drug plan. "Don't get me started on it." We called that phone number about 50 times and never got any help. They (repugs) don't care about regular people. Well, they better watch out. I vote, and they are never gonna see my vote again. I admit, I don't like the gay marriages, and I voted for them (repugs)last time. But, we can't live like this. I've got 4 kids. I don't know what we're going to do when school starts...new clothes, all the fees, and my car is falling apart. All they care about is keeping the Mexicans out. Well, I'm a citizen and I vote."
Wow. Much more than I expected. Inspired, I'm on to the cleaners. This clerk, a girl, maybe 18, had a cell phone in one hand, and was obviously in the middle of a conversation. No response, nada, none.
Last stop, a gas station. Again ... 3rd time this week. Aaaarrrrgghhhhh! Better response. A woman in her 50's, the clerk, took the bills, did the 'counterfeit' test...then smiled, "Yes I have! More than enough and I am planning to register to vote for the first time in my life. And I'll tell you, it won't be for the Bush crowd. They're nothing but a bunch of crooks."
Another remarkable day...makes me want to spend more money!
All I can say to anyone who is considering this, is ...DO IT! I guarantee it will bring a smile to your face, and who knows, maybe, just maybe it will help bring Dems to Congress and the white House!
