Yep, this is a $ request.
Dan Kotowski (bio) is a Dem running for State Senate (33rd) in the northwest Chicago suburbs of Arlington Heights, Elk Grove, Mt. Prospect, Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Niles, and far northwest Chicago.
He is a strong progressive candidate who has earned the volunteer help of local Democracy for America groups, DL21C and the endorsement of many, many local citizens (from mayors to neighbors). The 33rd has traditionally been held by Republicans, but the district is turning magenta-purple-violet... I honestly believe Dan can turn it blue.
And he needs our help with some donations while he flies under the big-money donors' radar.
His opponent was appointed a few months ago after the retirement of the popular GOP moderate, Dave Sullivan (nice guy, who worked in the Ryan administration).
Like everywhere else, June 30 is the filing deadline for local races in Illinois so Dan needs a boost from us now. He has a great shot at taking this seat because he's a hard worker, he has already earned the respect of Springfield Republicans and Democrats through his past work against gun violence, and basically he's a smart guy with a good head on his shoulders -- exactly the type of candidate the grassroots wants to see running.
Because of the number of Republican retirements in Illinois this year (especially in the State Senate) there are several other really good pickup opportunities across Illinois. Labor, the state party, and other traditional donor bases are concentrating on other races outside the 33rd.
Dan's only shot is us and our people-powered donations. Our $5.01, $10.01, $20.06, $44.44 or whatever amount you can afford is what can help bring Dan and his progressive values to Illinois' capital this November.
Please help with whatever you can afford. His opponent just held a big-dollar fundraiser a few weeks ago, but Dan is relying on actual citizens instead of big-money partisans.
Thanks a bunch! (Full disclosure, I don't work for Dan but I do volunteer for him.)
