Tomorrow, forget about the nation as a whole. Forget about how screwed up our government is. Forget about the lies and the hatred that are being spewed in the name of "freedom".
Think about your neighborhood. Think about your town/city/rural zip code/neighborhood.
Then do something good.
You don't need to "change the world". You don't need to "move a mountain". Just move a pebble...hell, just wave at a pebble.
Smile at the person in front of you who spends 10 minutes in the "express/cash only lane" using a check then balancing their entire check book and slowing things down. Then thank the clerk for helping you and tell them you appreciate their work.
Leave a huge tip for your server.
Put a quarter in an expired parking meter.
Hold the door for someone.
Attend a little league game where you don't know any of the kids playing and cheer for both teams.
Compliment someone you don't know.
Be nice to the "jerk" at work.
Feel good about being an American.
Then wake up the next day and let the anger you feel at the bastards who are perverting this great country move you.
We are better than this.
Everyone should remind themselves of that fact from time to time. We need to do good to be good. It doesn't have to be anything "big"...it just has to be.
"Anger" is energy, "goodness" is action.
Be good instead of angry once in a while. Both are important. Don't neglect one in favor of the other.
