Barry Welsh, running for Congress in Indiana's 6th District (and a frequent contributor here) has declared the first week of July Independence Week. In honor of the 230th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Barry is looking for
230 contributors to kick-start the new fundraising quarter. The end date for the challenge is Friday, July 7. Why not give him something today? Just add $.76 to your contribution to make it count toeard the total.

Barry Welsh is working hard this summer - five parades in four days, and only one wasn't rained out. As soon as we can get pictures of Anderson's midnight parade/typhoon poseted on his site, you'll see what we mean. County fairs are in full swing, and he has a
fundraiser July 9.
The Independence Week effort is an attempt to reach out to the online community that has given so much support thus far. The amount you give isn't as important as the fact that we reach (and hopefully surpass) the goal.
What is Independence Week about?
From Barry's site:
Join us as we declare independence from divisive, single-issue politics that pit one American against another. We are a campaign that truly seeks to unite our nation, building on our common traits, hopes and dreams.
Join us as we declare independence from the pay-to-play style of politics currently in fashion, where the special interest with the most money writes the laws of our nation, leaving the rest of us with an increasingly quieter voice. We are a campaign that plans to return ethics to the nation's capital, funding our campaign with the donations of everyday Americans who want nothing more than honest, hardworking civil servants.
Join us as we declare independence from a political philosophy that ignores and penalizes the weakest among us, providing extra opportunities and aid to those who need it the least. We are a campaign that understands the best way to keep America's families strong is to pay wage earners a living wage and to ensure that medical care is not a luxury. We are not too far removed from our neighbors to realize that Social Security is vital to millions of working-class Americans.
Please help Barry out and send him some money today. He is running a low-cost, grassroots campaign with some committeed volunteers. Check out Stuart O'Neill's interview with Barry fort some insight into how a small campaign can accomplish a lot with some hard work and no sleep. Advertising and other goodies (including $3.00/gallon gas) eat into the donations quickly.
Come on! Baron Hill (IN-09) gets Bill Clinton to come to the state for a fundraiser. Let's show what a people-powered campaign can do for Barry.
