Air America Radio has once again shown how disconnected it is from a big chunk of its audience by cancelling The Marc Maron Show (which was only available on KTLK AM in Los Angeles)and failing to live up to the syndication contract they signed with him less than six months ago. On top of that, they offered him the morning slot on Air America's network again in some form, but he would have to move back to New York (at his own expense) after having been forced to move to LA (at his own expense) when Morning Sedition was cancelled.
Maron weighed the cost of moving away from his wife once again for a company that has not lived up to its promises and made the decision... and I think the right one... not to go.
Maron's last show will be this Friday (in the east we have to wait until 1 am to stream it) and many of us will be tuning in.
With luck, Marc and his accom-plice, the multi-talented Jim Earl, will turn up on radio somewhere else. One can hope.
Will AAR ever get it?
