After sitting here for an hour reading about Arlen Spector's obscene compromise of a NSA oversight bill,
and burning up connect time (although it is going to Qwest, not ATT!), I feel very motivated
to re-instate the infamous "Dump Bad Telecoms for Life" poll.
(More across the canyon)
The California wildfires absorbed my attention, since our place was right in the middle of the Del Puerto Canyon 33,000 acre fire and less than 5 miles from where it started.
We had a tense few days but the California Dept of Forestry Fire crews, helicopters and water drops held off the fire from us, although it devoured a lot of pasture land in our neighbor's ranch to the east.
Anyway all is coming back to normal here (or as normal as it ever gets around here. Apart from the relentless 106 degree weather in the canyon (global warming?)
Since Spector (as we ex-Spected) has turned quisling, and Anna Diggs Taylor either hasn't made her ruling yet or got co-opted, I feel obligated to offer Kossacks the one indisputable means to express their outrage, namely the (OK somewhat wimpy but possibly significant) protest poll, asking Kossers if
they have deep-sixed ATT, SBC, etc. and will never re-up with them.
I'm more pissed off than ever, since I should be using this time for working on a book proposal. Although the way things are going, by the time I get the novel written, it will probably be illegal, since it has some (horrors!) liberal ideas about dealing kindly and fairly with your fellow beings.
But I'm feeling compelled to do something to at least sting the bastards, and this is the best I can think of.
As of the last update, Kossacks had stated they would deny about $2.3 million in future business to the NSA-asskissing telecommunications companies. If you are pissed about the way things are going, take the poll. I will send the results to ATT etc. and tell them that they are going to burn off a lot of customers.
Alternative companies such as Qwest, Working Assets, Working Assets Wireless, stand to gain customers if the bad guys lose them.
