Paris Hilton is a man.
See:
So is Sandra Bullock....
and Rae Dawn Chong.
and Meg Ryan.
and Jennifer Beals (I'm not willing to confirm this one yet, but the evidence is pretty damning).
and Francesca Neri
and Cate Blanchet
and Kelly Rowan
and Jasmine Guy
and yes, even Halle Berry
Heck, I am a man too:
How do I know? It's so obvious! Look at the pictures - right there in the neck region - see it? We all have adam's apples! How did we miss this before? They have to be men, right? Everyone knows that women don't have adam's apples. Or do they?
Dear Alice,
...I am female and I do have an obvious adam's apple. I never had it protruding as a child, but it started appearing when I had turned 14 years of age. Some of my friends noticed my "manly" feature whenever I would raise my chin. I felt unfeminine, but don't think I was a tomboy. I just felt so embarrassed through the years. Until this day, I imagine ideas that will stop it from looking like I was born a male and had recently had a sex change. Never had I encountered another women who has it like me. Can you tell me what might or might've been my cause? Please answer my question.
And from another woman:
So I'm a chick, and I have an Adam's apple. Not a very prominent one, but I can feel it and see it when I gulp. Is it just guys that have Adams apples? Since it's called "adam's apple" referring to Adam and Eve. Please tell me I'm not a freak! I'm totally female everywhere else.
How did some people respond to this woman's plea:
You sir are a transvestite sorry to tell you but your parent's probably decided to raise you as a girl and had your other bits removed when you were a child.
As anyone with a basic knowledge of anatomy knows, it is a physical impossibility for a female to posess an adams apple. The only thing my colleagues in the medical profession can think of is a throat tumour. Either that or you swallowed a golf ball. Or the spirit of Jimmy Saville's dead Aunt is sheltering in your throat in the form of a small lump of ectoplasm.
So, is this girl a freak?
Short answer: No.
Long Answer: There is a misconception that larynx growth during puberty results in the Adam's Apple being typically more prominent in men than in women or prepubescent girls or boys. While this growth of the larynx is responsible for the voice cracking in teenage boys, it really has nothing to do with the actual prominence of what is clinically viewed as the Adam's Apple itself.
The main reason for the Adam's Apple usually being more prominent in males is that the two laminae of the thyroid cartilage that form the protrusion meet at an angle of 90° in males but that angle is 120° in females. Still, there are a number of exceptions where the cartilage on a woman's throat is formed at that same 90°.
Although a prominent Adam's Apple is commonly considered a secondary sex characteristic, it is not influenced by hormones. In other words, a person that doesn't have a prominent Adam's Apple cannot cause their body to have one. It is simply a genetic draw of the cards. That is why women with noticeable Adam's Apples are by no means extremely rare. Notable examples of well-known women with prominent Adam's Apples include American actresses Sandra Bullock, Meg Ryan, Kelly Rowan, though the best representative of high profile females with rather large Adam's Apples would be Italian Actress Francesca Neri.
Still don't believe it?
The Adam's apple is a prominent bump on a man's throat. It is caused by the underlying cartilage and ligaments of the larynx or voice box. The larynx protects the vocal cords from injury.
But, boys have vocal cords and a voice box, so why don't boys have an Adam's apple? Well, they do. But during puberty, a boy's vocal cords become significantly longer, allowing him to switch from soprano to baritone. These new, longer cords require a larger container, so to speak, so the larynx also grows to accommodate them. The larger larynx is simply easier to see.
This is also the reason that women do not appear to have an Adam's apple, although, of course, they do have one. Generally, women have higher voices than men: this means they have shorter vocal cords and a smaller larynx. Their larynx is just not as noticeable. Also, women generally tend to have a greater percentage of body fat than men do. This fat hides the larynx and gives the neck a smoother appearance.
Hold on! So, all women have adam's apples? It's just that on some women it is a little larger? Adam's apples are even more obvious on thin women? But aren't women supposed to be thin? So, we should be thin, but not so thin that our adam apple shows? This is just all so confusing. And what if I end up with cankles?
What's my point?
Ann Coulter is a freak NOT because she has a visible adam's apple, or because she's skinny, or because she has a deep voice, she is a freak because she is a crazy conservative republican who says really stupid stuff. So much stupid stuff that we really don't have to make fun of her appearance in order to make fun of her.
In fact, all this talk about Manly Coulter distracts from the real problem - there are people who agree with her and they are all trying to destroy this country. And look around folks, I think they are winning.
Women come in all shapes and sizes but it's hard to remember that when some unachievable ideal is being slammed down our throats on a daily basis. We are trying to save this country with you and it would be a whole lot easier if we didn't have to spend so much time defending what we look like.
