Just how bad has Bush been? I've really lost track and it's been bugging me.
For the last 5+ years, Bush and his cabal have accomplished nothing good, have screwed up everything they've touched and have raised denial and excuses to new levels of perfection. Together with their enabling brother-Republicans, they have defended the indefensible, denied the undeniable, rejected the necessary, promoted the hysterical, embraced the profoundly petty and lied, lied, lied, lied.
So I set out to create a comprehensive list of the specific failures, lies, frauds, moronic decisions, unbelievable coincidences (Halliburton no-bid contracts?) and monumental clusterfucks that can be placed at the feet of these people and their party. I have struggled to remember, let alone list, all the salient points. Frankly, I don't think there's that much toner in my printer.
I think if I could remember 10% (and spark everyone's collective memories), it would be enough for total regime-change. Twenty percent could net us an impeachment. Fifty percent and we might never again relive a nightmare of this proportion and horror.
Frankly, I just want to be sure that there's PLENTY to talk about through 11/04 and 11/06. I'm hoping others might be able to make use of the remembered list in discussions with undecideds. Because there's plenty to go around!
Right off the top of my head:
Invasion of Iraq, a sovereign state
2500+ American dead for no reason (untold numbers of Iraqis)
Starting a civil war in Iraq
WMD's and all the accompanying lies
Lack of necessary equipment in Iraq
Stolen explosives in Iraq
Abu Ghraib
Guantanamo
No POW status or rights of any kind until "Hamden"
Valerie Plame
Jack Abramoff
Threatened refusal to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act.
Terri Schiavo
Bush personally stopping the investigation into the NSA's spying.
The NSA's spying!
Signing statements
Giving up on finding bin Laden
Minimum wage
Estate tax repeal (in the middle of the night)
Supporting homophobic legislation/amendment
Replacing the budget surplus with record deficits
Vetoing stem cell research funding
Refusal to acknowledge Global Warming
Thumbing his nose at Kyoto
Getting drunk, falling down and blaming it on a pretzel (my uncorroborated opinion, here)
Gee, have I forgotten any?
