Daily Kos, the popular left-wing website started by Markos Moulitsas, has changed its name to Daily Lamont and adopted an "all-Lamont Sanford" format in a bid for a larger share of the blog-reading audience. Items such as "Oh, this time its real, I'm a-comin' 'Lizabeth!" and "Big Dummy" have been hugely popular with the younger Lamont-leaning crowd.
I'm a-comin below the fold
The change, implemented August 2nd, will be barely noticeable to most readers since Lamont Sanford-related news items have already dominated the site for several weeks.
The change to the "all-Lamont" format, which features constant updates and analysis of the Sanford family, with a particular emphasis on stories that make Aunt Esther look ridiculous and Fred, Lamont's father, heroic indicates that the site is now repositioning itself to a much more lucrative demographic.
"I'm convinced that the Lamont Sanford format will show voting America a lot of what they need to know..." Moulitsas said in an interview. "The blog...doesn't drive home a lesson, but it can open up people's minds enough for them to see how stupid every kind of candidate can be. Of course if this doesn't work, we can always do 'Lamont Arms'".
