I got an email from a friend yesterday. His good friend, who is handicapped and relies on her car to get around and for her real estate job, has been having a rash of problems with a car dealership in Spokane, WA.
When she bought her new Infinity, she was told by the dealer that if it ever needed work, they would provide her with a loaner to drive until hers was fixed. She lives 190 miles away in Wenatchee and they assured her this would be no problem.
What she has found out has been a totally different story.
After taking her car in for a faulty tire problem, they tried to require that she buy very expensive tires from them, and when she bought them elsewhere,
after receiving an ok to do so from the repair shop, they said they could not install tires that were not original equipment and gave her quite the go around for several days. Finally, she contacted Infinity Corporate Offices and they said they would send a tow truck to return her car to her home.
Before the car could be delivered, the dealer called her again and said that a salesman had "accidentally" wrecked her car when he drove a truck into it on the dealership lot. They delayed calling her until they could get all the retail information about her car and they offered her a paltry amount for it. They refused to give her photos of the car, or provide security tapes to show the accident happening. Now they are ignoring her requests for action.
We are contacting the Attorney General's office in Olympia and a few people have called the local television station and a couple of stations in Seattle.
What else can my friend do? I need to wait a few days to see if our efforts to SHAME them into doing the right thing works..I can always update this diary with their contact information if I need to pull out the Big Kossack Gun and have you innundate them with phone calls....
Can she sue them? She doesnt have a lot of money and would just like them to fix the car to its original condition and give it back to her. They have denied they promised her a loaner and in the meantime, they require she still makes payments on a car she cant drive!
Update:
ok..now I am mad. I just got an email from this woman and she has sent her father over several times to try to negotiate with them, and basically they are just laughing at them over this. She wants the car replaced at her original loan deal..not a free car, just one that is like the one she bought, at the same loan interest rate..
I didnt want to publish their phone number, but i think it is time they figure out that people are not going to put up with this kind of crap anymore.
