Today Hezbollah rockets
killed 8 Israeli civilians, and seriously wounded five people in Ma'alot and Acre.
In no way is this diary a defense of Israeli tactics. I am not discussing that now. I am simply condemning Hezbollah and its tactics of shooting missiles with the express purpose of killing as many innocent civilians as possible. There is no, "Yes, but..." justification. I don't believe in killing innocent civilians, period. It's no more right on one side than another.
UPDATE: I had hoped the conversation would be civil. I was wrong. We even have posters claiming Hezbollah "never fired rockets into Israel" before this incident, or one person saying "I can't get worked up over a few rockets." Certainly, you would get worked up over them if someone you loved were killed. People, wishing for peace and condemning the killing of innocents cannot have caveats or justifications. I encourage everyone to read Nightprowlkitty's comment below, it's the best comment I've ever read on this site.
I am posting this as a condemnation of Hezbollah, not a defense of Israel. I am posting this because I believe that the discussions about this conflict on this site have remained far too silent when it comes to condemnation about Hezbollah and its killings of civilians.
I am certain many will post about how the imbalance in civilian deaths between Israel and Lebanon, as if that somehow justifies these. The death count is irrelevant if you truly believe that our goal should be ZERO civilian deaths, as I do. Any time a civilian dies it is a tragedy. And today's deaths in Israel are also a tragedy.
Once again, I am not defending Israeli tactics, nor am I defending the killing of innocent Lebanese, NOR am I trying to discuss whose fault this all is. I am condemning Hezbollah for being murderous killers whose rocket attacks have the sole aim of killing as many civilians as possible. I hope very much that this condemnation of the killings of innocent Israeli civilians can stand on its own without any caveats or attempts at justification.
Let us hope for peace for all these people as soon as possible.
