Fox says to Mexicans "Don't Play with Fire"
Most of the news has been about the weather. Authorities removed over 150 tons of hail from the streets of Mexico City yesterday. Some areas had more than a meter of hail on the streets. 6 people died during the storm. In Ciudad Juarez, authorities are draining a large reservoir which threatened to overflow into both the US and Mexico and evacuated thousands. Unfortunately, more storms are on the way. This is interesting because climate change has been pretty much ignored by the press, until now. I hope An Inconvenient Truth is released here soon.
There was a very curious story about a family of 10 indigena in Chiapis who died from eating mushrooms. What seemed odd is that these are people who have a long tradition of collecting and eating plants from the wild. It has been suggested that for some reason, the mushrooms are mutating; previously non toxic fungi are becoming poisonous.
Please use this as an open thread to discuss the election or anything else about Mexico.
