Just received this from the campaign of Jay Fawcett. He's had enough of the incompetence and wants to remove the bulls-eyes from our soldiers' backs - and remove Donald Rumsfeld from office. I gussied it up with some stuff from the internets - B.
The American people and eight Generals have lost faith in the "Rubber Stamp" Congress and the current leadership in Iraq.
Jay Fawcett, the Democratic candidate for Colorado's Congressional District 5, is calling for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to resign.
"Military officers are held responsible for their actions," stated Fawcett. "We should accept no less a standard for the Secretary of Defense. Clearly, Donald Rumsfeld must accept responsibility for the failed actions of an inadequately planned Iraq war."
Jay Fawcett, a powerful advocate for new, innovative solutions to the domestic and international challenges facing America, said today "we can not continue to ignore the deteriorating situation in Iraq. Eight generals have now called for new leadership and today we learned that civil war in Iraq isreal in all but name. There is no other choice than to bring in new leadership with a clear direction."
On August 3, 2006 General John Abizaid, in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee, said, "I believe that the sectarian violence is probably as bad as I've seen it, in Baghdad in particular, and that if not stopped, it is possible that Iraq could move towards civil war."
Jay Fawcett, a decorated veteran, has written military doctrine for United States Northern Command and is the only candidate to be endorsed by high ranking military officials such as the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Hugh Shelton and General Wes Clark, the former Supreme AlliedCommander to NATO.
"By asking these questions about the goals and objectives in Iraq and speaking out on the issues which directly impact so many citizens of Colorado Springs, we are not being disrespectful, unpatriotic, or unsupportive. We are being responsible Americans," said Fawcett.
"We deserve answers and we deserve clear leadership. The issue with the current congressional leadership and the Republicans that are looking to challenge me in November is simple - they have no idea what their job is. The duty of the Congress is to be a viable part of the checks and balance system that our forefathers created - an Executive Branch, a Legislative Branch and a Judicial Branch. Each branch ensures that no one person or group becomes more powerful than the will of the people."
"It is truly unfortunate that the Republican candidates have forgotten that."
This takes guts, folks. Jay has them to spare. We're going to need them to win here in wonderful Fort Dobson, CO.
