I'm here in Salisbury, CT, doing visibility for Lamont (and "captaining" - giving volunteers coming from northern CT and MA signs and such to take to the polling places in neighboring towns).
Not terribly much action, for me, as it's possible for voters to park right in front of the Salisbury Town Hall (within the "no soliciting" zone), jump out of their car, vote, and be back behind the wheel and driving away inside of 5 minutes. But it's no great hardship to be outside on a beautiful day such as this, and I've met some great people in volunteers Rich, Russell, Jake, and Susie.
And then there's Snowy, a gorgeous fluffy white Pyrenees, who emerged from Town Hall with and "I voted today" sticker on his forehead. His owners assured me he voted for Lamont.
Last, but not least, I've also met several members of the Salisbury Town Committee (many of whom are also in the Salisbury Democratic Party). All of seem confident that the vast majority of votes here (around 900) will go to Lamont.
One of these folks was a gentleman with a great story to tell.
Basically, people in CT agree that they're beyond tired of phone calls - robocalls on behalf of Lieberman, Malloy, De Stefano, and Lamont, too, as far as I know, as well as the personal calls coming from individuals on behalf of the various campaigns, and through organizations such as MoveOn.
Well, Bob L. got a fundraising call from the DSCC (I'm betting he's given generously to the Democrats in the past). Bob confessed that he'd been hanging up on robocalls and more, but when he got the DSCC on the line he couldn't help himself.
"I'll give you $25,000," he told the caller, "but first, I have a question." (Upon mention of the amount, he told me, the guy on the other end of the line sounded as if he was about to have an orgasm.)
"Will any of the money I provide go toward Joseph Lieberman's campaign?" Bob continued.
A moment of silence ensued. The DSCC caller said: "I don't know, sir. I'll have to find that out and have someone get back to you."
Needless to say, no one called Bob back.
