The efforts of the DailyKos community had no small part in the earth-shaking Ned Lamont win tonight. Congratulations all around! A pat on the collective backs of everyone here is well deserved...
The question now is... "who's next?"
With only a few more weeks to seriously fundraise for the Massachusetts governor's race, I'd like to humbly propose that we turn our attention to Deval Patrick.
If you're not familiar with him, watch the videos. Then, contribute $5 or $10 to support one of the best candidates the Democrats have to offer.
BACKGROUND:
Deval Patrick, The Dynamic Democrat, is for running governor of Massachusetts against candidates who cannot lead.
One is a insider with too many local ties to catalyze necessary changes and the other is an ego-driven venture capitalist with more money than God. Both have political aspirations that far outweigh true determination to represent the Commonwealth's best interests. That is immediately apparent in the fact that neither has attempted to build a grassroots campaign.
It'd be one thing if Deval just had to get through this tough primary, only to face a Republican he could roll over. Unfortunately, not so: the Republican attack machine started today, as the incumbent Lieutenant Governor released ads casting all Democrats as "tax and spend liberals."
OUR MOTIVATION:
Meanwhile, the Deval Patrick campaign embodies grassroots values. On every one of his Issues pages, he solicits the opinions of his potential constituents. He listens to what we need. For further proof, watch this video in which he finishes by saying, "Working together, we can prove that people matter more in politics than money."
Sound familiar? This guy gets it.
The Deval campaign derives most of its funding from donors who give under $100 whereas his opponents get them mostly from donors of over $500. Watch the Barack video here for a little inspiration to contribute those $5, $10, and $25 donations that turns common political wisdom on its head!
OUR SCRIPT:
1. Tonight through Labor Day ~ Promote Deval's fundraising efforts so he'll have enough in his coffers to put a few ads on T.V. Contribute easily online.
2. Labor Day through Primary Day (September 19th) ~ Fight off any attacks on Deval in the crucial final weeks.
3. Primary Day ~ Make noise! Get out the vote. Then pat ourselves on the back again as we gear up for the general...
