Just a few minutes ago I released the following statement through my
PAC (TerriPAC) about the developments in Connecticut and Texas.
About 10 days ago I stood with Ned Lamont in Hartford. And, in case there was any doubt, I stand with him still today.
More below.
Statement from Michael Schiavo
On Joe Lieberman and Tom Delay
August 9, 2006
"Yesterday Democratic voters in Connecticut did the right thing in rejecting Joe Lieberman to represent them in November. In supporting Ned Lamont, Connecticut Democrats made it clear that Joe Lieberman does not represent their values and that's encouraging.
"That Joe Lieberman didn't get what Connecticut voters were telling him yesterday is profoundly disappointing. In ignoring their decision and running in his own political party Lieberman is showing once again that he thinks he knows better than the citizens who elected him.
"Earlier this week, Rep. Tom Delay decided to officially, formally and finally duck voters in Texas by refusing to stand for re-election. It seems Tom Delay has no problem rallying the Congress to vote on what my family should do but can not bring himself to let his own hand-picked constituents vote on what he has already done.
"While these politicians are from different parties and states, they share a common arrogance and contempt for Americans that allows them to think they can ignore our private and protected rights - and the will of voters - just because they think they know better."
