First of all, thank you -- from everyone at campaign headquarters, from the candidate down to the last volunteer. I know it's just a bunch of pixels, but each one is soaked with as much sincerety as possible.
I can't wait to sit down and add to the million entries and comments (which I am trying to catch up on) about last night, what it meant and how it happened. But for now, it was about the people of Connecticut and a record-setting (measured in turnout) desire for change -- a desire you could almost physically feel on the campaign trail. It was about one hell of a candidate, special in so many ways. It was about the team of locals, intimately familiar with the state, assembled by Ned and Tom Swan (campaign manager). It was a field staff and thousands of volunteers operating in near-perfect harmony - holy cow they were amazing. And how about Hillsman?
And it was about you.
Whether it was your volunteer hours, distributed research capabilities, help in securing ednorsements (present and emerging), contributions, ability to impact traditional media messaging and create space for Ned to emerge as a candidate, or any number of roles filled by the online comminity, last night couldn't have happened without you. We may not be enough to win elections on our own (yet), but the question was always asked: "What role does the Net have in this part of our campaign?"
There were so many pieces that simply had to operate at maximum output if we were even going to make this race close. In the end, they all excelled -- including ours.
And that's why we won last night.
