Stating that "he expected most Democratic officials to support the winner of the primary" and alluding to that as a `partisan thing', Lieberman then went on to suggest how he was able to close a 13 point gap with Lamont from a poll everyone knew to be an outlier, and now has Democrats, Independents and Republicans behind him.
He also declared that `so many Democrats don't just disagree with the President, they hate him the same way Republicans hated Clinton.' Of course there's a MASSIVE difference Joe just don't get...
Republicans hated Clinton because he interfered with their hold on power and stood between them and their ability to impose their draconian insanity on the nation. Democrats hate Bush because he is completely dismantling America, stripping away our freedoms, sociopathically indifferent to the suffering of our citizens, selling off our resources to the highest corporate bidders, bankrupting the treasury, defiling the Constitution, and destroying the work of 50 years of diplomacy.
Lieberman once again decried that `at a time we're at war and a time we're facing serious domestic problems we cannot work against the President.' Earth to asshole - the President and the insane ideology he represents are exactly why we're facing all of these problems!
Lieberman is a dangerous enabler. An enabler in that he completely fuels the Rovian sleaze machine of focus-grouped sound-bite deception. And dangerous in that someone gives the guy a microphone. I have to ask Lieberman the standard Republican retort "why do you hate America Joe?" Why do you fight against all that is good and sane and free and democratic and completely ally yourself with the authoritarian theocracy that desperately seeks to tear down that last barrier between them and our lifeblood - the Constitution?
When Larry asked him about his infamous "hug" with Bush (a.k.a "the Kiss") queuing up the video, Lieberman acted like his earpiece suddenly stopped working and King had to end the interview.
Let's just hope that the same will be true of all those who look to Lieberman as some voice of moderation and think that meeting a criminal half way is "bipartisan" progress. What Joe just can't seem to understand is that there are NOT two sides to every issue. And you don't look at every problem as "Democratic" or "Republican." You look at what is best for America, and that is what you fight for no matter whose side someone is on. And that he fights to enable a string of insanity that is to America what a school of sharks is to a bleeding passenger on a sinking ship - it's time to plug the leaks and throw the ballast overboard.
So thank you Joe. We appreciate the good times, but please don't let your door hit us on the way out.
