Or at the very least, aiding and abetting the terrorists.
If the Times puff piece on Rumsfeld's house, which conservatives jumped all over for exposing Rumsfeld as a possible target of Muslim fanatics was deemed an act of treason when it all actuality, there was no threat posed at all, then surely the release today of details in the UK airline terror plot which reveals, in part:
U.S. and British officials said some suspects could still be on the loose and their investigations were continuing.
carries far more water since it involved what appears to be a very real plot.
Considering that intelligence officials were doing their job in tracking down the leads and figuring out the details of the plot, surely while undercover, the moment the story was broken by government figures, those terrorist suspects who were not already captured were given a blinking warning light that they needed to get out of dodge, and fast as every channel in the world was probably flashing images and banners relating to the disruption of the plot.
Furthermore, if those suspects that are still on the run are in possession of any of the alleged explosives, and were otherwise intent on carrying out drastic attacks, who's to say they won't carry them out on different targets?
While I applaud authorities for stopping the airline plot and taking the bad people down, the release of the information surely is detrimental in capturing the other remaining suspects.
I imagine that with continued diligence, acting on tips and leads gathered either from the public, those already captured, and perhaps any evidence seized during raids and captures, they may very well track down everyone involved in the plot. But in the meantime, with potential terrorists with explosives still out there, running scared, it seems there's a much higher chance of casualties due to a rush in carrying out attacks before capture than any chance of casualties that resulted from the Times story.
Anyone who can argue that the pre-mature release of this information, while there are still potentially lethal explosives in the hands of terrorists connected to this plot that are still out there, is not a gift to the terrorists or is not aiding and abetting the terrorists, please...share your thoughts.
