Joe is now spouting
straight-up hi-test neocon-speak:
"If we just pick up like Ned Lamont wants us to do, get out by a date certain, it will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England," Mr. Lieberman said at a campaign event at lunchtime in Waterbury, Conn. "It will strengthen them and they will strike again."
That's right -- our occupation of Iraq has sure helped to prevent terror attacks. Why, if we hadn't invaded Iraq, "the terrorists" (because as Joe says, they're all "the same people", right?) might have attacked, say, the London underground! Or commuter trains in Madrid! Clearly, fighting "them" in Iraq is keeping us safe elsewhere.
The good news is that the American public is growing more and more skeptical of this kind of hysterical, geopolitically ignorant chicken-little double-think. In other words, we will not be terrorized: neither by the violent Islamists, nor by the Bush administration.
