Al Weed released this staement today on the foiled airliner terror plot overseas. Al is running against the clueless and dense Virgil "I didn't know that money was illegal!" Goode (R-MZM)
I am thankful that the recent terror plot out of England was foiled. It is news like this that gives us all pause. And one cannot help be brought back to the horror of September 11, 2001. Some things have changed since that day, but unfortunately, a lot has stayed the same.
Republicans are still irresponsibly using terror and fear to support failed policy and war. In his statement to WSET Mr. Goode said, They only have to be successful one time. And, we need to continue doing the things that we have been doing--even though there's been some criticism of those activities. We need to do everything we can to stop terrorist acts." Once again he is nothing more than a blind echo of George Bush and Karl Rove.
If they truly believe that we must do everything we can to stop terrorist acts, then why is Osama bin Laden still free? The foiled plot has every marking of Al Qaeda. We should have squashed that organization and its leader when we had the opportunity, not divert our military resources on a foolish mission in Iraq. Every day we spend in Iraq we create more terrorists than we stop. We must get our troops out of Iraq, find Osama bin Laden, and utilize intelligence and diplomacy to neutralize and destroy terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda.
The voters are smarter than Republicans think. Using the foiled attacks for political gain is a shameful thing to do. And it is baseless. George Bush failed to finish the job in Afghanistan, his administration used fear to fulfill an obsession in Iraq, and Congress supported them all the way. We need new, responsible leadership in Washington.

Al Weed is a 42-year veteran of Army Special Forces and a visionary businessman. He singlehandedly reinvented the wine industry in Virginia, and graduated with honors from both Yale and Princeton.
Please give to Al Weed. Virgil Goode (R-MZM) is a do-nothing placeholder in Congress, and we can't afford that anymore. There is too much at stake to let a bribe-taker to remain in Congress.
Thank You.
