With just a few weeks left to the 2006 Congressional election, I would like to send out a plea for people to put aside our misgivings about the Democratic Party, focus on the positives, and be proud that we can win on the merits of our candidates, rather than on the negatives of theirs.
Voter turnout is the name of the game, and using the Dems as the better of two evils simply does not bring them to the polls.
Here are some examples of positive frames:
Jeffery Feldman's diary on the very effective frame:
Change is Security
Is one example of a great frame that can be repeated in favor of a Democrat controlled congress.
Others:
-Democrats will return the US to the tradition of responsible stewardship of the land.
-Democrats will base policy on science, not adjust science to fit policy.
-Democrats will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
-Democrats will NOT restrict anti-cancer vaccinations based on a small group of right-wing beliefs that are out of step with main-stream America
- Democrats will promote life-saving research technologies involving stem cells
- Democrats are for abstinence plus birth control and disease control - based sex education.
- Democrats are for teaching evolution in science classes
These are a few things I am proud Democrats for. It is not an exhaustive list. They appeal to a wide swath of society.
So, what are you proud of YOUR candiate for???
