Today, President Bush is scheduled to leave Crawford, setting a record for the shortest summer vacation he's taken in office.
But we, the people, still intend to hold him and his adminstration accountable, and are determined to end the war.
Camp Casey in Crawford continues until Sept. 2, and there is a lot to do, with workshops, teach-ins, actions, strategizing sessions, and much more. See the events calendar for more of the planned activities. Things really are kicking into gear on the 16th, and Bush may miss all the fun, but you won't want to.
As you may have heard, Cindy announced at the Veterans for Peace convention last week that Camp Casey will be a sanctuary for war resisters and conscientious objecters, and active military and their families who oppose the war are welcome to come and get the crucial support and information they need in their personal opposition to participating in this illegal and immoral war.
It takes resources to create Camp Casey, to take care of those who come to give or get support, and, as last year, getting those resources depends on the generosity and participation of lots of average people making small donations.
If you can attend Camp Casey for any period between now and Sept. 2, please do. Encourage your family and friends to join you in a show of solidarity with Cindy and with the resisters who come for help. Make a financial contribution if you can.
Starting Sept. 5, Camp Democracy takes up where Camp Casey leaves off, moving the action to Washington, DC. Let's continue taking our demands for peace and justice to the halls of power, and the people in power, whereever they are.
Don't give up now -- We are stronger than ever. End the war. Bring them home. Hold Bushco accountable!
