George, you've got me a little concerned lately. I've supported everything you've done to protect America and her citizens without a second thought. I supported torturing detainees in Guantamo and Abu Ghraib. I supported casting vast nets through warrantless spying on Americans in an effort to track down potential terror conversations. In fact, I think one of your most shining moments was when your administration, using backchannels and rhetoric, fought back against Joe Wilson and his wife when they tried to undermine the
solid intelligence you cited in your State of the Union address regarding Iraq trying to get yellow-cake from Niger. Sheesh, could it have been any more obvious that what the Wilson's really wanted was just part of a much larger conspiracy to overthrow the government?
But lately, some of your words and actions against those who constantly seek to undermine your credibility is starting to worry me. It's almost as if they're actually getting to you and well, I think what they're doing is treason!
Just yesterday it sounded like you were speaking in
defeatist terms, with your comments on seeing no end in sight in the war on terrorism. Perhaps it was just response to the latest rash of criticism from your own
supporters who simply don't have that American resolve that you recognize all too well but let me assure you, Mr. President, you're
The Decider and whatever you decide, I'll support.
Nookular bunker-busters? Mark me down. Radioactive weapons of any sort are a great tool in combatting terrorism and there are no side effects.
Secret prisons? Mark me down.
Secret military tribunals with so many secrets that even you can't look at? Mark me down.
I'm pleased, however, that you've decided to fight back against your critics. What you said about being frustrated at a lack of progress and more appreciation from the Iraqi people for everything we've done for them rings all too well in my ears.
We've liberated an entire country from a tyrannical ruler and it's become more and more evident as days and months go by. Too bad that liberal media won't show the world how things are really shaping up. Lucky for us, however, that Condoleeza Rice emphasized a major milestone recently that didn't get the press coverage it deserved.
"That people would go out and demonstrate and say what they feel is the one sign that perhaps Iraq is one place in the Middle East where people are exercising their right to free speech"
I understand it wasn't quite the
type of protest one is quick to embrace, however.
More generally, the participants said, the president expressed frustration that Iraqis had not come to appreciate the sacrifices the United States had made in Iraq, and was puzzled as to how a recent anti-American rally in support of Hezbollah in Baghdad could draw such a large crowd. "I do think he was frustrated about why 10,000 Shiites would go into the streets and demonstrate against the United States," said another person who attended.
As for why Iraqi's aren't as appreciative, and why they're supporting Hezbollah, I've got nothing either, Mr. President. But at least they're making progress. I mean, Iraqis protested! That's an enormous success and it sure sounds like democracy to me! I mean...if peacenik anti-American liberal treasonous dogs can protest on your lawn and call you a murderer, and do so freely in this country with all it's freedoms and rights, then surely we can equate protesting Iraqis with protesting leftists. Don't misundernotstand that, however. We've had hundreds of years of freedom here in America. So they're rallying for Hezbollah. Sure, it'd probably be better if they were protesting against terrorism and death, violence, and crime in their own backyard but I'm sure and have full faith that they'll come around in time. They're protesting, for crying out loud. In public, no less! Surely
that never could've happened under Saddam Hussein, right?
Look at it this way. To go from years of tyranny and oppressive rulership to...the ability and freedom to protest publicly...that is progress, is it not? That is what we wanted to do for Iraqi's, right? "Free them?" Bring them the fruits of democracy? If this isn't a shining example of Freedom on the march, then I don't know what is.
If you ask me, so far, everything you've done has turned out exactly as you envisioned it. Way to go, Mr. President! Hoo-rah!
Whatever the naysayers say, Mr. President, I just want you to know that I'm still behind you. I think we're making progress, even if it's scattered in between reports of murder and assassination attempts of some of Iraq's political leaders, continued abuse of the court system by those anti-Americans the Wilsons, and all those stupid polls.
Speaking of polls, a lot of these ridiculous "bloggers" like to point to polls and say "See? See? Nobody likes you, Mr. Bush. Nobody likes your war. You were wrong, nya nya nya." But when I see a poll that says 60% percent of Americans oppose the Iraq war, you know what I see? I don't see Americans upset with your handling of the war, I see Americans thankful for everything you've done to protect them. I see 60% of Americans who recognize all the progress and actually feel that the war is almost over and that soon, all the troops will be able to come home, all the violence and bloodshed will end, and Iraq will finally blossom like the great democracy it's quickly becoming.
God bless you George Bush. America would be worse off without you.
