If anyone had an NRA rating of 13%, 25%, or even 40%--WOULD THE NRA SUPPORT THEM? Of course not.
Then how can ANY veteran or active duty person support a Republican party with a veteran support record of:
- 19% in the Senate
- 25% in the House
Compare that to Democrats:
- 78% in the Senate
- 91% in the House
And the White House? Remember Rep. Chris Smith? Loyal Bush supporter? Head of "Veterans for Bush" in 2004? Also head of the House Veterans Affairs Committee? Not any longer. He made the mistake of being loyal to veterans. Bush dumped him. Read about it
here. In today's Yellow Elephant Republican party, loyalty flows UPHILL ONLY.
My sources: Ratings are from the
Disabled American Veterans, as compiled on an excellent page put together by a veteran,
here.
Suggestion: THIS IS A GREAT LETTER-TO-THE-EDITOR RESOURCE. E.g. Look up numbers for one or both opponents in your race, if available, from here:
Since we are dealing with percentages, I think it's even kosher to mix apples and oranges a bit between House and Senate. E.g., I can compare
OH-SEN Senator Mike DeWine, 47%, with his opponent,
Rep. Sherrod Brown, 100%.
By the way, I have looked at numbers from OTHER veterans groups, and the Disabled American Veterans' figures are NOT a fluke. Republicans DO screw our troops.
