Nothing surprising here. I voted today. I didn't intend to. All I wanted to do was go and file for my absentee ballot for the primary and general elections. The lady at the County Auditor's office asked me if i wanted to do my Primary voting while I was there, and so I took care of it.
I voted Democratic. I was tempted to vote the Republican ticket and play games with them, but decided against it.
I also learned something that may or may not have an effect on this year's elections. Read on below.
Recently my county decided to change the address system in the entire county to a GPS system. For example, say you lived at 12 Generic Road. You now, without moving, live at 16354 803rd Street.
The county auditor's office is still trying to get their system updated. Some residents who have built new houses cannot get the new address. They get letters or phonecalls back asking for the old, nonexistant address. They end up having to go through the Post Office to obtain an address that the county should have supplied.
I can't help but wonder how this switch will affect voting this year, with addresses switching, people not remembering which address to use, the system not being fully updated, etc.
I don't know if or how this will affect challenges if there are close elections this year, but I'm a little concerned and am glad I'm voting absentee.
