I just received another support-the-troops email.
Below the fold is what I emailed back. It is non-political, UNTIL you look at the voting records at the links I provide, where you see that Republicans overwhelmingly DO NOT to support veterans, and Democrats overwhelmingly DO. The numbers speak for themselves.
Suggestion: Cut and paste this, edit it to fit you and your candidates, and use it next time you get a "support the troops" email. (I sent it to ALL the CC's too.)
My reply:
Joe:
As a veteran, I appreciate you keeping our troops in mind. Please keep them in mind on election day too.
I know the NRA and other groups put out a scorecard for their supporters.
I don't know of anything similar for veterans, except a veteran I know tallied the voting records kept by the Disabled American Veterans and came up with his own scorecards for the House and the Senate, below:
Senate veterans scorecard

House veterans scorecard

Of course, there are many other issues to consider, but maybe include veterans too, and look at those links before you vote.
And please don't believe what you see on commercials. Deborah Pryce recently had a big "support the veterans" commercial, but her score is one of the lowest--13%--which REALLY ticked me off. (Would the NRA ask you to vote for someone with a 13% NRA scorecard?!)
We need representatives who go beyond lip service, and support veterans and the troops with their actions.
Thanks!
And if you think I'm kidding about the scores, go look up your own Representative and Senator.
P.S.
And this is not even including what the Bush did to his own Chris Smith.
