You've seen
Kirsten Powers. She's the former trade secretary who laid the smack down on Ann Coulter ("Coultergeist" in some circles) on Hannity and Colmes recently -- and looked damn good doing it. She's been aptly described as a "truth ninja" and likes piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.
You've seen Michelle Malkin, known primarily for getting waxed like a candle by super-pundit Chris Matthews in the run-up to the 2004 elections. Given the explosive nature of each one must ask... What if these two were to meet?
According to Ms. Powers' blog, they
have and indeed they
do on a weekly basis in what I would like to call the
"O'Reilly Factor Monday Night Throwdown." Given Powers' known capacity to deliver the pain and Malkin's equally well-known skills in the areas of squealing and squirming, even if you're ready for some football, I rather doubt anything could prepare you for this match up.
Indeed, not having cable or even a television set, I was in no way prepared for what I presume must have been last night's performance, but given the size of this forum and his astronomical ratings, certainly, someone must have been watching O'Reilly ("Bill O" for Olberman viewers). In view of this statistical certainty, I must ask if anyone who saw this clash of elements, this battle of olympus last night feels up to reporting on it (realizing, as I do, of course, that such a viewing experience might leave one somewhat incoherent for a spell).
I imagine it was somewhat along the lines of any epic battle of good versus evil. Perhaps at times the faithless felt their resolve waver at the appearance our heroine might falter, as would any one of us in the face of such impossible odds, but ultimately, she prevailed, clutching victory from the jaws of defeat in a feat of daring and nerve so alien to our fragile mortal sensibilities that we are simply left to marvel at the magnificence of our champion and rejoice in the grace of messianic destiny that brought her to our midst -- but perhaps I'd better hear it first from someone who saw before I indulge in much further speculation.
