I don't know if this has been diaried already, and if it has, I'll remove it once someone tells me how.
Anyway, I just got an e-mail from WCPT 850AM concerning the firing of Mike Malloy from AAR. I thought it was pretty decent of the radio station to send out something about it, and I was wondering if any other radio stations had done the same.
More below the fold.
Here is the e-mail they sent out...
Yesterday we learned from reading the radio trade publications that Air
America had not renewed their contract with Mike Malloy. The article
indicated that Mike had been expecting a new contract, but that AAR
decided not to renew as a cost saving device.
Although WCPT does not carry Mike's daily show because of our broadcast
hours, we are very aware of how many of you listen on the stream and/or
enjoy his weekend "Best Of" shows on WCPT.
We have no control - indeed not even any input - over Air America radio
decisions. We deeply regret the way this was handled and want to make
it clear to you that WCPT and Air America Radio are two distinct
entities.
We have listed below contact information at Air America if you wish to
express your opinion.
We hope that you will continue to listen to and support WCPT in our
efforts to continue to serve you - the Chicago area listener with the best
programing and service we are able to offer.
Thank you as always!

Director, Operations and Programming
