I saw a diary earlier that pointed out
this and I was driven to post my first diary out of absolute rage....
I'm sorry, Giuliani actually said that the root causes of terrorism were "oppressive governments that demagogue and blame and project their problems other places and do nothing to solve the problems of their own people" and someone actually said that sounded like the DEMOCRATS? What kind of psychotic partisan fuck could possibly believe that that phrase doesn't ENTIRELY describe the Republican party, at least the neocon-"American Taliban" wing that controls it currently?
Let's take this bit by bit:
"Oppressive": a government whose highest officials call dissenters "unpatriotic" and "appeasers" and who take upon themselves the right to ignore the rule of law to spy on their own citizens, to torture and to detain without due process... hmm, what does that sound like?
"Governments that demagogue": to be certain, I looked up "demagogue" on dictionary.com, and here's what I found:
"1. a person, esp. an orator or political leader, who gains power and popularity by arousing the emotions, passions, and prejudices of the people."
Wow, that sounds so much more like the Democrats than the Republicans, doesn't it? Because, let's face it, 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, terrorists are going to kill you, and really, we've got to keep our country safe from those brown people from the south and those naughty, nasty gays. "We must fight them over there so they don't attack us here"? No demagoguery here, people, just move along...
"Blame and project their problems other places": Terrorism is CLEARLY the fault of the terrorists, and has NOTHING to do with horrifyingly stupid foreign policy, right? They just hate us "because we're free" (for an ironic little refresher, read the "oppressive" paragraph above again). (To the sarcasm impaired, let me just state that I find it to be fascinating that the solution to the Republican-stated problem of "they hate us because we're free" is to take away our freedoms...)
"Do nothing to solve the problems of their own people": Katrina. There's other examples, but... Katrina.
I mean, honestly. How much of a ridiculously idiotically stupid partisan fuck do you have to be to not gather that that turn of phrase perfectly describes the Bush administration? And then to blame it on the party in opposition to them?
Un. Fucking. Believable.
