Well, I do. I came to DailyKos in September of 2004 as a result of an online class I was taking at my local JC called "Journalism in the Electronic Age." The class was directed to this site as an example of a "blog."
I had never even heard of a blog before. I wasn't even a Democratic at that time. I was just sort of ambivalent, aka, uninformed. I was raised as a repug. I became very disenchanted with the repugs as a result of the Clinton impeachment hearings, but I did not really think of myself as a Democrat. I didn't know anything about Democrats at that time, other than that they were "bleeding heart liberals." I think that it would be safe to say that I was fairly apolitical. Always voted repug without ever knowing why, other than that my parents had always voted repug.

My arrival at DailyKos sure opened my eyes. I discovered that I was one of those "bleeding heart liberals." Who could have known? I cried with all of you on the morning of November 5th when Kerry lost. I had had such high hopes when I went to bed the night before. I was amazed that I actually cried over an election. Somewhere deep in my soul I knew that it was very important.
When I was young and foolish I almost joined the John Birch Society. I was very arrogant in those days. If someone was poor it was their own fault - they were just lazy. With age came wisdom and compassion - thank God!
Thank God for all of you and this blog. You are so smart and so intelligent, and so irreverent! I love this place. Thank you for the incredible education that I have had here!
PS: Thanks to the professor of that online class for directing me here. I know that he will be reading this.
