All kinds of boycotts can be threatened, and maybe in a month or two, there might or might not be some results that could or could not be linked to such threatened boycotts. Here is an idea that can happen
right now and the results can be
immediately seen.
Steve Jobs recently became a member of the Board of Disney. Disney owns ABC. iTunes has made tons of deals with ABC (among others) to distribute their videos, and likely next week they're going to be announcing a new iTunes movie store, with Disney as the first major studio to sign on.
I love Apple, and I hate to suggest this, but I think that a major, organized boycott of the iTunes store, starting
today would quickly get the message to Steve Jobs, who would most certainly pass that message quickly along to the rest of Disney's Board. The upcoming iTunes movie store is a
huge new venture for Apple and Disney, and threatening to hurt that venture economincally is maybe our best chance to get ABC to see the consequences of what they are about to do.
