MUST READ SECOND UPDATE: Well, ABC has responded to Clinton by digging in its heels and refusing to cave. This response is thoroughly unacceptable, and leads me ask, why does Disney feel it can stand its ground, while it so easily caves every time James Dobson looks at it funny? The reason: Dobson is organized. When he makes a threat, he backs it up with action repeated over the long term. We, however, are far too quick to forget and start chasing a new rabbit every time a new outrage arises.
This lack of follow-through ends now. I want every Kossack to:
1. Write on a piece of paper the following words -- "Don't forget I must make time to punish Disney and ABC today
2. I then want every Kossack to get a piece of tape and tape that paper to the wall right beside their beds, so it is the first thing seen upon waking up.
3. And I want every Kossack to keep that paper on their wall for an entire year.
4. Each and every day from here on out you are all drafted to punish Disney and ABC, whether it's by calling their switchboard, not watching ABC, not attending a Disney movie, or not going to Disneyworld.
Our fucking lack of organization and follow though ends now -- we are in for this for the long term and refuse to be ignored!!!
YEEEAAARRRGGGGHHH!!!
thus ends the second update
This story has just been raised to whole new level. President Bill Clinton has demanded, in a four-page letter, that ABC pull its outrageous "Path to 9/11 Mockumentary," if certain changes aren't made:
A furious Bill Clinton is warning ABC that its mini-series "The Path to 9/11" grossly misrepresents his pursuit of Osama bin Laden - and he is demanding the network "pull the drama" if changes aren't made.
Clinton pointedly refuted several fictionalized scenes that he claims insinuate he was too distracted by the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal to care about bin Laden and that a top adviser pulled the plug on CIA operatives who were just moments away from bagging the terror master, according to a letter to ABC boss Bob Iger obtained by The Post.
The former president also disputed the portrayal of then-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright as having tipped off Pakistani officials that a strike was coming, giving bin Laden a chance to flee.
"The content of this drama is factually and incontrovertibly inaccurate and ABC has the duty to fully correct all errors or pull the drama entirely," the four-page letter said.
Clinton's actions significantly raise the stakes. With 9/11, we are talking about the most personal and politically charged event facing our nation today, and ABC is promoting a movie of this event that is so inflammatory and factually false that an ex-President has demanded it be removed. If ABC now airs this movie without making the necessary changes, this story will most definitely NOT go away. With this level of opposition, Disney is looking at long-term damage to its reputation and business interests.
Keep up the pressure, Kossacks. It's working. We are the offensive linemen clearing the way for the quarterback (Clinton), to throw the touchdown pass.
Steve Gilliard has a list of Disney and ABC contacts here. And Highacidity had an even more updated list here. Use them. It's time to step up the pressure.
