Delivering your message to ABC
I've just returned from delivering hundreds of thousands of your messages to ABC headquarters in Washington, D.C.
We walked into the lobby and were immediately greeted by ABC receptionists who told us they were expecting us, and asked us to wait in their lobby. Well, outside their lobby. There were huge sliding glass doors between us and them. But there was a TV at least. And guess what ABC News was reporting on? The controversy surrounding their propaganda film.
ABC News and the petitions while at ABC in DC
But, back to the story. So we wait. About 5 minutes later we saw a woman approaching us. But she saw my camara and immediately headed back for the elevators and disappeared. We were confused. They were expecting us. They told us that. So where did she go?
Waiting and waiting...
I don't know the answer to that. I do know that about 20 minutes later she reappeared. She also immediately asked that I stop taking pictures. I politely let her know we wanted the thousands of people whose petitions we were delivering to be sure to know that they had gotten to ABC. I even offered to take the picture so you were just see her from the back. She wasn't happy with that option either.
The ABC reps finally reappears
I relented, in the name of politeness, and we got down to business. We explained we were delivering the petitions in response to their airing of the film 'The Path to 9/11' which contains known distortions of the facts, yet still claims to be based on the September 11th Commission's Report.
She said she couldn't help us - that these petitions needed to be sent to ABC's entertainment division - in Burbank. We asked if she would be able to get them to Burbank. She said no. She said ABC couldn't pay the postage for such a delivery. One of our staffers pointed out that ABC had already spent $40 million on the movie, so surely, $20 for postage wasn't gonna kill 'em. But she delined.
So then we asked what they would do with the petitions if we left them there. Would they be thrown out? She said no.
So we left them there, where they would be able to review the thousands of comments by their viewers about the airing of their "docudrama". We also let the ABC representative know that we would be overnighting a CD to their entertainment division in Burbank, California, as well.
FYI, the "WE" is The Democratic Party - These are the DNC petitions and were delivered by 4 staffers, 2 supporters/friends of the DNC and 1 intern.
