I just read this story from the
AP that Jack Carter was hospitalized with severe colitis and is in intensive care.
A family friend and physician, Dr. Edward Nathan, said in a release the colitis "had a cascade effect on several of his body's systems" but added, "he's responding rapidly to treatment and his vital signs are stable."
"He's on the mend, he's recovering nicely," Nathan said, adding doctors will have a better idea of when Carter can be released from Summerlin Hospital in 24 to 48 hours.
The former president was expected to speak about his son's condition later Sunday afternoon. Jack Carter remains hospitalized in intensive care.
"I can't answer how long he won't be able to campaign," Jones said. "Jack's going home from the hospital and Jack's resuming a grueling campaign schedule are likely to be two different things. His health is paramount."
Carter is running as a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Nevada, seeking to oust the Republican incumbent, Sen. John Ensign, who wants a second six-year term.
Jack Carter said in the release he was "looking forward to getting back on the campaign trail as soon as I am physically able."
I think Jack and the whole Carter campaign/family could use some love now and notes of well wishes.
To work so hard on a campaign and to be gaining ground and then have something like this happen has got to be frustrating.
