Yesterday, Monday, September 11th, Larry Grant hosted an event for people to come out and meet him as he runs for the 1st Congressional district office. The meeting occurred at his campaign headquarters in Caldwell, Idaho. About a half hour outside of Boise.
He got a fair number of people to show up, looked like between 50 and 60 people. A fair number of people for a Monday evening event for Democrats in Idaho. There was a lot of excitement in the crowd for Larry's campaign. We talked about Larry's new commercial(it should be on the net soon) and the new poll showing him ahead of Bill Sali(22%-14%), of course with a huge undecided majority of 64%.
Pictures and more over the breach.
The event was fun in that I finally got to meet some other people who work for Larry's campaign. Being surrounded by Democrats is a rare occurrence in Idaho. It was busy as I spent most of my time making sure people had enough drinks and food and answering questions that I didn't really know the answer to.
Here's his office with a banner we put up so everyone would know where to go.
A couple of pictures of Larry one talking to a supporter and the other addressing the whole crowd.
Towards the end of his speech he brought everybody who was volunteering for him to come up and stand next to him. Here he is pointing at me and saying, "hey camera boy, you come up too." I was not expecting that as I'm as low as you can get on the totem pole so the photo is a bit shaky.
He is a great candidate and seems like a good person. Before the party got started a family had gotten lost and was trying to find a different office and Larry personally helped them find the where they needed to go. It was a little gesture that nobody noticed except the family and me, but I think it demonstrates the qualities he has that will make him a great representative in Congress for Idaho.
Here are some more pictures from the Grassroots for Grant blog run by his blog person Julie Fanselow.
It's an exciting time in Idaho Democratic politics. We actually have some coverage from people not from Idaho and we have a really strong chance of winning in a Republican district. Also as is mentioned every time someone talks about Idaho media markets, it's cheap, so throw some bones at Larry's campaign so we can give all of the Republicans indigestion.
There are a couple of cats that the office people have adopted. They're cute and I have no shame so how about some pootie mojo for the cats.
