John Hall is that winner. With about 80% of the vote in (results from one county not available), Hall takes the prize in a field of four. Hall appears to have taken more than 50% of the vote. Congratulations to John Hall. Needless to say, three people are not overjoyed, but this was a win-win-win-win primary; all were fine candidates.
The Republican incumbent, Sue Kelly, was unopposed. Like most Republicans, Kelly no longer owns up to her party. Good luck on finding the word
Republican on her
House website or her
campaign website. It has even been purged from her bio.
NY-19 embraces the northern suburbs of NYC extending into rural territory. Registration leans red, less and less so each year. Without the value of incumbency, it is hard to believe Kelly would stand a chance in the current environment.
Republicans live on K Street, and they don't even have to grovel. Incumbency buys favors: Kelly has 1.3M cash on hand. What Kelly doesn't have is a voting record acceptable to 19th CD constituents. Whether it was funding the occupation through oil revenues, implementing the Every Child Left Behind successes, or the Medicare Part Doughnut fiasco, Kelly is consistently on the wrong side. It also doesn't hurt that Kelly is almost as incoherent in person as Dear Leader.
We can win. We can take back the 19th. We do, however need to get the word out. That costs money. Can you help?
Donations at ActBlue appreciated. Donations direct to the John Hall webite just as welcome.
Thanks.
