Newsbusters first
demanded an apology from MSNBC and Keith Olbermann following Keith telling the Bush Administration to stick it. Now, that the ratings are up, way up, they are
literally crapping all over themselves.
By now, many of you likely heard about the embarrassing and utterly disgraceful comments made by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks as reported here and here. Judging from ratings figures the following evening, Olbermann's vitriol was a hit with his viewers.
As reported Wednesday by TVNewser, Olbermann's ratings skyrocketed on Tuesday. His showing was good enough to put him ahead of CNN's Paula Zahn and CNN Headline News's Nancy Grace in the 8PM EST time slot, a feat that KO rarely achieves. His estimated 695,000 viewers was 34 percent more than the 518,000 that actually watched this atrocity Monday evening - which was also, as typical, fewer viewers than watched Paula Zahn and Nancy Grace. This was also 75 percent more than the 397,000 viewers KO had on Friday, September 8.
Yeah, he was up, no but's about!
Sadly, Olbermann appears to be getting rewarded for his atrocious behavior by his viewers, which, of course, tells us a lot about them, doesn't it? After all, rather than share the opinion that this solemn occasion was not the time to soliloquize such vitriol, left-wing blogs and publications applauded KO's performance.
What the right wing either doesn't get or doesn't want to admit is that Americans are getting sick and tired of the lies and other bull shit that the rightwingers and the Bush Administration has been saying and doing.
Now here is this news anchor that is talking about all this crap and calling it for what it is...crap. People want to hear that, so they are watching Keith more and more and more.
As I said earlier, either the people are stupid are they just don't want to believe that they can longer sell the shit that they have been peddling. As Jonathan Alter said last night on Countdown, the American people no longer believe in this Administration.
The rightwingers will continue to try and compare ratings and show that Keith's numbers are in the basement compared to other shows. But here is the problems with that.
1. They love to use total viewers, they ignore the "money group". Remember it is all about the $$$. Keith is growing more of the "money group" over time than the other shows.
2. More people tune in after Hardball to watch Keith and then the tune out as Scarborough comes on. Don't think Dan Abrams doesn't know this. Have you noticed that Joe is getting a tad more critical of Bush recently?
3. FOX and CNN is on more cable networks than MSNBC. One of my biggest issues when traveling is that 75% of the hotels I stay at, don't have MSNBC.
It is funny is that some of the commentators at Newsbusters scream to stop mentioning Olbermann - "It only makes him more popular!!" Something that is apparently lost on the dumbasses that run the site.
Keep it up Kossacks, as Alter said last night - "We have turned the corner."
UPDATE:Tonight's line up (so far)-
1. Colin Powell Goes Against Bush Administration.
