If this last indictment and agreement to plead guilty is any indication, the Republican party has simply given up any hope of winning the upcoming mid-term elections. The major problem is that their constituents haven't.
And Now From The Man Who Brought Us Freedom Fries
If this last indictment and agreement to plead guilty is any indication, the Republican party has simply given up any hope of winning the upcoming mid-term elections. The major problem is that their constituents haven't.
Bob Ney, the latest victim, if that term can even be righteously thrown about in such a manner, of the Jack Abramoff epidemic has recently agreed to plea guilty on all of his current federal criminal charges which would, hazardously, only incarcerate him for a mere few months. The charges, which include conspiracy and false statement, would be the first pled guilty to by any Congressmen as a result of the plague. But how many more Congressmen will soon follow Mr. Ney's path? Save, perhaps, McCain and Stevens, who ironically is far from being involved in his son's hazy dealings with the oil companies that have granted him, hopefully, a seat in front of a judge, shouldn't the Justice Department look at the Senate too?
Maybe then, only maybe, will the conservative folk realize that they seriously need a revamp of their entire party. And, perhaps, in lieu of all of this, some intelligent beings (not design theorists) decide that it's time that this country undergoes change.
What disgusts me the most is not what Mr. Nay, per se, did, but the nature of his character. Superciliousness is not a trait which we are born with. It is a trait one must develop. We can all fall into temptation by some lobbyist's hazy dealings and exchanges; that has been happening for years. But how is it that whenever money is wiggled in front of some conservative's nose they always try to snap at it. This I just don't understand. Do they really not have any ethical principles anymore, or is it just that they seek an adrenaline rush every time they play golf with their "buddies". I do not know. I think I'll just resort to dubbing them the way that a Libertarian I know does: "Nazi bastards!"
