The president today, and the media is framing the debate as "revolt against the president." They are wrong and it is a lie.
It is about us, not about the "evil doers." It is not even about our troops. The real question is "Who are we as Americans?"
What are our values when it comes to torture? Why did we sign the Geneva Convention? Why has America for so many years been recognized as the "gold standard" in protecting human rights? How will we ever again have any legitimacy when we talk about human rights violations in any other country?
We (Dems) have a great opportunity now to do some reframing of our own. It has to be about "What does America stand for?
