So now I've received two emails from the Kelly campaign, and boy were both of those wacky. The woman is totally freaking out over John Hall's campaign!

Her latest screed has her worrying about "President Pelosi." The Republicants' straw man of a Democratic Congress impeaching both Bush AND Cheney. A wonderful fantasy, but something that'll never happen and something for the R's to use as a boogeyman to their base. And she mentions a lot, too. Hilarious!

But the weirdest thing I noticed in BOTH the emails was

From Email 1 on 9/13:
They got want they wanted. The democrats in the Hudson Valley have nominated a true blue liberal. Now that they are just one election away from putting one of their own in Congress, they will move heaven and earth to secure this seat for Mr. Hall.

From Email 2 on 9/19:

They are now just one election away from putting one of their own in Congress - and they will move heaven and earth to secure this seat for Mr. Hall.

* Bold emphasis is mine.

Do you think this is some weird code word for the religious right in this District? And don't kid yourself, there are plenty in the neighborhood. Let's see if it's in her next email, shall we?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Great to see some NY-19 coverage (0+ / 0-)

I live just across the line from Pound Ridge, NY, which is part of NY-19.  My daughter's nursery school teacher lives up in NY-19 and HATES Sue Kelly.

A lot of people have said that this isn't a race that the Dems can pickup.  I've compared it to CT-05, where everyone thought Nancy Johnson was untouchable, but now, Chris Murphy has Johnson running scared.  Perhaps Kelly and Johnson are passing notes in the halls of Congress about how dangerous these Democrats really are.

I sure hope we see a lot of support for John Hall.

I think Hall is a strong candidate and this district could be quite a surprise.

Check out Hall's website -- the campaign is enabling remote phone banking if any kossacks anywhere are up for it.

I'm in NYC but if I go anywhere to move heaven and earth, aka GOTV, it will probably be to the 19th. I don't understand the pessimism on this one. To me it looks possible.

  •  How do I get on Kelly's mailing list? (0+ / 0-)

I did some phone banking for Hall before the primary, and am awaiting direction on further campaign participation, but I want to know what Sue's saying to the "faithful".

  •  It looks like laziness to me (0+ / 0-)

The sentence from email 1 was recycled, with very minor editing, in email 2. Observe the clause before, with "just one election away from putting one of their own in Congress" before the phrase you cite (and the rest of the sentence after it).

Someone was enamored of their writing the first time, and jiggered it slightly so it wasn't obvious reuse. Or so they thought.

  •  I hope Hall has enough money (0+ / 0-)

to get some t.v. spots of his own. I can't go a day without Kelly's wizened mug glaring at me.

Hey man, we all want the money.

We all want peoeple to know whats going on.

In every open thread -- in every new diary post about this race.
Mydd, DailyKos, anyother place you want -- discuss the  race and how it can be won.

Get the DCCC to get their act together and support Hall in the NY-19 th.

    •  Ads (0+ / 0-)

Yeah, Hall can raise a good bit of money through his concerts and musical connections, but ultimately our late (and competitive) primary means that he's waaaay behind Kelly in fundraising. Getting some DCCC money in here for an ad buy would be helpful.

We're not talking about a particularly Republican district. As has been discussed often on Kos, the GOP holds roughly a 36-33 lead in party registration in the 19th - and that lead has been shrinking for years, and continues to each day as new Democrats move in from lower Westchester and NYC, and as former Republicans leave their party in disgust: with the drastic rise in property taxes as the GOP controlled most of the county and local governments in the 19th, they are no longer seen as the low-tax, efficient-government party. Democrats made huge gains in town and county elections in 2005, and should be able to translate that to this Congressional race.
