No, not the troops in Iraq.
Marilyn is entertaining the "troops" in Washington, DC who are going to protect us from gay marriage and swishy cartoon characters.
According to Marilyn, "As we face the issues that we are facing today I don't think there's anything more important out there than the marriage issue." Osama bin Laden will just have to face the facts - and wait his turn.
And since things are going so swimmingly in Iraq, it just makes sense for all the "life"-sters to concentrate on the real issues facing Americans. And to amend Constitutions everywhere accordingly.
Of course it took a Democrat to put the hyperbole in perspective, as Angie Paccione did while responding to Marilyn's mixed up priorities:
"Holy smokes, we're at war, we've lost nearly 3,000 people and thousands more are maimed."
"We have over 46 million Americans without health insurance. Weld County, one of her counties, led the country in mortgage foreclosures.
You think they care about the federal marriage amendment?"
No they don't.
But that won't stop Marilyn and her fellow "
entertainers" at Tony Perkins' FRC Faith-Fest from trying to change the subject of this years' election. Accountability and ethics are out, fear and divisiveness are in, per MM:
"So I want to stay in Congress, of course, this is an election year and I'm working very hard to stay there but it is really very meaningful to do something of significance."
Yeah, nothing.
"The fact of the matter is, the politics of this issue are absolutely brutal."
TRANSLATION: "If those gays would just stay in the closet and quit worrying about their loved ones, us heteros could be happy again, dammit!"
"I am a poster child for 527s. I don't know if all of you know what that means but that's referring to campaign finance, where candidates like me go out and raise money."
Um, MM, you're speaking at a 527. "You" are "raising" money at a "527". Every dollar they give goes into the FRC 527. And many of those dollars will be used to smear your opponent, as 527's are wont to do. And, then there's......
"They attacked me on veterans' issues, on issues with the elderly."
Only Republicans think something is an attack even if it's true, true, true. Sounds like she has a serious case of the "Bill O'Reilly's".
And while they are provably clueless about Americans' concerns this year, that doesn't mean we can't laugh with at Marilyn and Company and their skewed take on "life".
It might actually be funny if it weren't so life-and-death serious.
