Wingnuts actually believe in Cheney's 1% doctrine. If you don't watch out, even you may think it is reasonable to invade a country that has a 1% chance of developing a nuclear weapon and use it against America.
A majority of Americans may be thinking along these lines about Iran. Here we go again.
The 1% doctrine seems to appeal to many. Of course we know that Cheney is just using this meme to justify the PNAC world domination agenda and not to protect you and me. But let's suspend disbelief for a while.
So here is what I propose; if the 1% doctrine makes sense when it comes to nuclear weapons in the wrong hands, doesn't it apply also to global warming?
The consequences of global warming are terrifying. Much more terrifying than any nuclear bomb in the hands of a terrorist. Millions of people, including most Americans, displaced by rising waters, starved to death, diseases gone wild, all within 50 years.
Even if you think that this scenario has only a 1% chance of happening, does it not make sense to try to do your utmost to stop it?
If Cheney's 1% doctrine applies to terrorism, does it not apply also to global warming?
If so, why isn't anyone asking Cheney this question? Of course one would have to have balls and an opportunity to do so. I am just floating this meme here hoping that it flies. Because I am really worried that there is more than a 1% chance that I may live to see global warming kill us all.
We need a Manhattan Project for global warming, we need it now and we need the US to lead. We need Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" at the highest levels of government now! Or at least starting on November 8.
Fine! Now you can re-activate disbelief because if Cheney gets his wish to attack Iran we will be doomed even before global warming becomes irreversible.
