That's the statement I've been pondering ever since I saw
this Rocky Mountain News story quoting Democrat Bill Winter about Mad Tom Tancredo (R).
At first I kind of chuckled when I read through this story. Is Al Qaeda really going to target the exurb Denver Tech Center or suburb Castle Rock?
But I saw the light when I re-read this Bill Winter quote:
"[Mad Tom] has to remember he is in the public eye and he's a public official," Winter said.
Exactly. And that's exactly why Tom Tancredo is a threat to national security.
President Bush and the Republicans would have we Americans believe that ideas like Democrat Jack Murtha's to re-deploy troops out of Iraq would somehow "embolden" terrorists. That somehow this is "defeatist" talk that fuels the recruitment of more and more extremists in Iraq and elsewhere, boosting "their" morale.
But then reality sinks in, as does the truth of Bill Winter's words.
I'm no terrorist-recruitment expert, but let me just throw out some common sense here for you to be the judge.
Which of these two phrases would be more effective at recruiting Muslim people to an anti-American cause?
A. - America has no permanent ambitions in Iraq and plans a phased withdraw to the horizon of Iraq conditioned on the readiness of Iraq Forces and International Support. (Democrats, sane people)
vs.
B. - America wants to bomb Mecca (Tom Tancredo)
This leads me to believe that if any American political figure's words are being used to recruit more terrorists they are the words of Tom Tancredo, and his fellow "hyenas" in the right wing media.
But I'll let you all decide in the poll.
In the meantime, support Fighting Dem Bill Winter:
