Last week, Ohio Rep. Bob Ney pled guilty for accepting tens of thousands of dollars worth of trips, meals, sports tickets and casino chips from convicted congressional briber Jack Abramoff and his cronies.  Prosecutors recommended he serve 27 months in prison for selling our country's legislation to the highest bidder.

Ney, who had denied any impropriety since the investigation began, changed his tune.  "I have made serious mistakes and am sorry for them."

In the House, Duke Cunningham is in jail.  Ney bas been convicted and is on his way to jail.  Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay resigned in disgrace.  Multiple staffers have pled guilty and are under investigation.

But Rep. John Doolittle - with deep ties to both the Abramoff and Cunningham bribery scandals - remains defiant.

More on the flip.

Doolittle has yet to apologize for his actions.

He has not given back or donated one dime of the over $220,000 in tainted contributions tied to the Abramoff and Cunningham bribery scandals.

He has admitted personally earmarking $37 million in unneeded defense contracts to Cunningham's convicted and indicted cronies.

He is on record supporting, promoting and funding the government of the Northern Marianas Islands that has openly tolerated sweatshops, forced abortions, sex slavery and religious persecution - actions solely taken to benefit Jack Abramoff.

Doolittle continues to pay his wife 15% of contributions to his campaign.  The Doolittle family's estimated take from George W. Bush's upcoming visit is $75,000.

He has yet to explain why Abramoff paid $5,000 a month to his wife's consulting firm for almost a full year after the event she was hired to manage was canceled.  Or why her only clients were Abramoff related firms or sham charities.

Doolittle's former chief of staff, who invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in front of the Senate, continues to lobby Congress.

Doolittle continues to tell his constituents to hire a lobbyist if they need help in Washington.

Doolittle just doesn't get it.  The evidence is clear and the pattern is the same. John Doolittle is next up to the corruption and bribery plate.  Doolittle is in the Justice Department crosshairs.

But we cannot sit by.  The evidence of impropriety is overwhelming but the wheels of justice turn slowly.  It is up to us - you, me, our campaign - to take matters into our own hands.  To stand up and say this is not ok in America.  We have 43 days to state our case to the people of CA-04, to show them the truth and show them an alternative.

Please, help us make our case.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Doolittle must go, just like Pombo. It's a sign of how low our government has sunk when people like Doolittle are still in office.

How corrupt do you have to be these days to get booted out of Congress? We're not a banana republic! Get rid of the Abramoff minions -- elect a Democrat!

Is the DCCC funding charlie brown campaign??..one would think that doolittle would be a deep trouble since a charlie internal poll suggested that the race could be close with money  and ad attacking doolittle...Im worry that brown wont have the money to make sure the words gets out about doolittle.

any money for brown from dccc?  any ad flooding the district on behalf of brown?

    •  DCCC? (4+ / 0-)
I'm thinking the DCCC is watching this race before they take the plunge. Giving money to Charlie Brown now greatly increases the chances that the DCCC will campaign for Charlie.

Better get to donating and volunteering now, because Doolittle has started his ad buys.

BUT the big day is Oct. 3 when Bush is coming in to raise money for Doolittle. Charlie sent out an email to his supporters suggesting that as an alternative to a protest (and we are aching to do that) maybe come to this:

        5:30 p.m.  “Rally for a Real Choice”
$20 suggested donation - Free Hot dogs and beans!

We all know that Doolittle is bringing in Bush on Oct. 3

  •  Thank you, sir (5+ / 0-)

Thanks for posting this morning, Charlie! Its true-- Doolittle has refused to apologize. Its part of the denial mechanism, he doesn't think anyone else sees the things he's done. But we're watching him, and if people get interested in the Marianas Islands, there will be an outcry from the public asking Doolittle to turn himself in!

  •  Once Greed Defines A Man (5+ / 0-)

I often wonder why Doolittle would give up his personal morals and dignity and then cannot see he has compromised himself and his family values for money and power.

Is greed and power such an addiction that it overrides Doolittles ability to see what the rest of us see?

Is his addiction to money and power so strong that he can no longer stop himself and we must force him out of office in order to save him from himself? (I plan on helping him by voting for change but i'm sure it's too late for him to avoid prison in the near future)

Why would anyone in his position risk becoming a Convicted Felon who will be put in Federal Prison and ruin his family and reputation? Only John Doolittle and his wife have those answers. It's our duty to save them from themselves by forcing him out of politics.

Please help Lt Col Charlie Brown with ANY sized contribution
