The debate continues. I am not near a TV, so can't comment directly on speeches and actions at this point. So I'll let those of you who are watching coverage fill us in.
I've called my two Senators (Obama and Durbin) and my Congressman (Jerry Costello). If you haven't done so already, call now! Be succinct, polite, but don't hesitate to be forceful. (Illinois residents: Durbin has already made a floor speech against the bill. Call and thank him, but press for a filibuster.)
More below:
As previously reported, this vote may hinge on how Maine's two Senators choose to vote. Let them know what you think (doubly so if you're a Mainer):

A few observations from my end:
Obama needs to speak out. He is a media darling, and anything he says will get wide airplay. As good as the speeches were by Durbin, Levin, and Leahy, the media is going to cover it as "Democratic opposition?" and dismiss it in a few sentences. Obama is guaranteed to get much more coverage. Press his staff to have him speak out:
Barack Obama

Washington DC 20510

Let's keep this going. Remember what Maximus Decimus Aurelius said: "What we do in life, echoes in eternity".

UPDATE: Added Obama's Senate office address. While I'm here, I would suggest y'all write LTEs also. Your favorite paper often has webforms for that, so your writing may make tomorrow's paper. Get those opinions out there, and push the meme!
