MYDD comments Global Yokkel points out that it appears Sherrod Brown voted for the torture bill yesterday in the house. I thought he must have it wrong- but sure enough according to
the Clerk of the House he really did. WTF?
I am totally stunned by this. Another commentor pointed out that Ford also voted for it- I am disappointed by that, but not surprised. When Hackett dropped out we were assured that Brown was a great progressive. As I wrote in the comments on MYDD call me crazy, but I didn't think voting to move Bush one step closer to king was considered progressive.
I just really don't understand how any Democrat could vote for this bill. How can these people wake up in the morning and look at themselves in the mirror? How does Brown justify this? Does he really think that voting against this bill would make enough of a difference that he might lose his bid to be a Senator? What about base Democrats who will not bother to vote for him because they are so turned off? I may call his office, but I know it means a lot more if Ohio voters call.
