Before you read my LTE, go read
this piece of shit opinion written by Mitch McConnell in yesterday's Courier-Journal.
Preserving "interrogation flexibility"
Five years after Sept. 11, 2001, we have yet to be attacked again on American soil.
In the days and weeks immediately following 9/11, almost no one believed this would be the case. Yet, for five years, we have successfully prevented the terrorists from launching another deadly attack on our shores.

I had a much longer response, but I was only allowed 200 words. Here they are:
Senator McConnell's Op-Ed in September 28th edition of The Courier-Journal entitled "Preserve interrogation flexibility" is nothing short of Orwellian. Interrogation flexibility is merely a euphemism for torture, and if he had any integrity of his own, he would just come out and say he is for torture.
What Senator McConnell doesn't tell you is that his vote for, and passage of, The Military Commissions Act of 2006 could very well have put our Democracy in grave danger. As the Center for Constitutional Rights puts it, "The current version of the Military Commissions redefines an 'unlawful enemy combatant' (UEC) so broadly that it could include anyone who organizes a march against the war in Iraq."
Apparently, Senator McConnell doesn't just want to torture terrorists, but anyone who opposes our misguided adventure in Iraq. The same could be said for Anne Northup and Jim Bunning, each of whom effectively voted to bring an end to reason, real American values, dissent and Democracy.
Sound okay?
