According to
a new law signed by President Bush, killing a pregnant woman is now a crime against two people.
Two PEOPLE? Folks, the latest attack on Roe v. Wade begins. This is not about how heinous crimes against pregnant women are, it's about passing unconstitutional laws in order to dare the Supreme Court to overturn the constitutional right to terminate a pregnancy in the first two trimesters, or to chip away at the definitions that have guided our laws and protected women's reproductive rights for decades.
Here's a WaPo editorial on the subject, stating the rather obvious connection between the law and the fight against reproductive freedom.
So, Mr. Bush, does this mean that I can claim a child tax deduction in the year my wife became pregnant? That fetus, er person, was sure a dependent.
