Howard Dean has
spoken what many of us feel... that the Homeland Secuirty Threat Advisory seems to be used in some part for political reasons. This is similar to statements in F911 that suggest the same thing.
The counter argument is that Dean has no proof of this. I would love to see a simple timeline showing the major news story before each time the advisory has been raised.
To do this, I could use some help with finding out when the advisory has been raised, and what was in the news at that time. Please post any info you have on the subject to this diary.
Thanks!
Dean's main statement:
"It's hard to know what to make. None of us outside the administration have access to the intelligence, which led to this determination. I am concerned that every time something happens that's not good for President Bush he plays this trump card, which is terrorism. His whole campaign is based on the notion that "I can keep you safe, therefore at times of difficulty for America stick with me," and then out comes Tom Ridge. It's just impossible to know how much of this is real and how much of this is politics, and I suspect there's some of both in it."
